99 Support

A recruitment platform tailor-made for the Japanese job market, with a focus on usability, cultural nuances and efficient job matching for both employers and job seekers. 99 Support puts small and medium-sized businesses first.

My Role

I led the end-to-end product design process. It covered understanding the product from PMs, to mapping out the information architecture and user flows, to ultimately delivering the final screens.

Challenges

Labor shortage, lack of growth opportunities and cost optimization is the reason why 99 Support exists. It is a unique recruitment platform as it is the only one that allows for 'sharing' and 'borrowing' human resources to and from other companies. This problem is specific to the Japanese job market and as a result, the solution lies in studying the culture surrounding it.

Process & Approach

Keeping my approach user-centric, I aimed for clarity, simplicity, and cultural nuance by first understanding the client’s pain points and the expectations of Japanese users. I designed the platform in English while a translator handled the Japanese localization.

The product features full bilingual support (English/Japanese), a minimal yet functional aesthetic, intuitive navigation, and a consistent visual language. Culturally specific insights relevant to the Japanese market help shape the overall UI/UX.

Results

The platform launched successfully and received positive feedback for its ease of use and clean design. The design helped establish credibility and improve the overall user experience, contributing to early adoption in the market.
